through the process of analytic division of the narrative I then translated the story into a story-board. At first this was fine as I had done this previously with the last project. However for this it was different as for a stop motion/ animation video there were other things I had to consider. Such as movement / where the voice over would be and this would be in the storyboard rather than drawings. The simple drawings had notes around which will be helpful in later stages of filming.

created a series of illustrations made from the objects and set design - I wanted to keep my characters very abstract and my set design very clear and simple, yet sweet, for the viewers ability to follow and understand with room for them to continue to interpret if want. I think my use fo a wood-like paper is effective in representing the woods, a black background to represent the darkness of being blind - contrasting the woods to the black which I thought gave the viewer a connection to the characters as this black is what we see is what the characters feel- darkness.

For the characters, simple circles to represent the mother, boy, girl and another for the old woman. I also cut a band to create the bird. simplicity was key for me. I liked how the eyeball (brown ball) matches the wood background - being the same colour gives the viewer a connection to that previous scene of the woods which I liked that inclusion.

I like the gooey bit which represents the effect of the burn on their face/bodies causes by the boiling water and fat burn. I am still not sure whether I like this or if it looks excessive and out-of-place.

My favourite of all though is when the characters circles are twisted up and create these lovely aesthetically pleasing shapes with the goop coming out. I love this.

I think some aspects are effective however other parts I rushed and I think I need to go back and think about and edit those areas. I like the last still of the bands and gooey-bits almost squishing outwards, its strangely beautiful in a sense. I think the last bit looks much better than the still before where the goop is loose and looks strange/ out of place.

Studio Thompson: Art direction - creative agency: Studied graphic design and went on to make a studio with his brother. Collaborates with other designers- typography, branding, - worked w skin care, jewellery - fun projects and work with many different ppl across the industry.

Working in a team is good but obviously opinions are conflicted and some people didn't understand others viewpoints and would want to take a different way - however its important to listen and consider all options.

The importance of the role of an art director - ensure that their clients' desired message and image is conveyed to consumers. They are responsible for the overall visual aspects of an advertising or media campaign and may coordinate the work of other artistic or design staff

CHARACTER REALISATION

After completing a series fo edit trials for my animation, i came to a conclusion where i think I preferred my video as a humorous take, with no words or subtitles, I thought the music made it effective in its simplicity which was the set design and characters. I think with adding any more detail ( such as voice over) would harm the charm of its speed and sound of the songs played.

Further, I created the above characters and screens for a hopeful re-trial animation where I want to explore a more 'storytelling' aspect with voice over and sound. I think I found the above character more charming for a voiced over video, however the circles and simple characters I produced previously were very simple and i think If I were to have more thought into them at the beginning they may well have turned out like they did now, later on in the week.

I wouldn't say I am fully disappointed with my outcome videos I made prior, however, I think If I had pushed myself further I would have created something a bit more special maybe. I think at the beginning it was the thought of having to create a 3d animation using video apps, and filming and the use of objects intimidated me to keep it simple and not wantonly put a lot of thought into engaging fully with the amount I could have made. Saying this, 1 week projects are always short.
